Doctors
Mark Green, DVM
Dr. Green is a native of Tennessee and has
wanted to be a veterinarian since he was eight years old. He received
his DVM Degree in 1982 from the University of Tennessee College of
Veterinary Medicine and was married to his wife of 29+ years, Mary Ann,
the day after graduation. His veterinary career started in Salisbury, NC
as the 3rd doctor in a large and small animal practice. From this
experience, Dr. Green claims to get his "James Herriot Stories." In
1984, he and Mary Ann established Mallard Creek Animal Hospital in the
University Area of Charlotte. He was the doctor...she was everything
else. The practice initially served dogs, cats, and horses. As the area
changed from rural to suburban, the practice emerged as a multi-doctor
small animal practice. Dr. Green and Mary Ann have one college age
daughter, Cameron.
In 1998, Dr. Green enrolled in a 2 year post doctoral program offered by
the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in small
practice management. From this interest he taught the Professional
Development Course at North Carolina State College of Veterinary
Medicine, a practice management course for junior students for 6 years.
Dr. Green is a strong supporter of organized veterinary medicine. He has
served as President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Board
Member for the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and as a
member on two national committees for the American Veterinary Medical
Association.
The NCVMA has honored him as "Veterinarian of the Year," as recipient of
the "Martin Litwack Award for Service to the College of Veterinary
Medicine,"
and with two "Presidential Awards." The University of Tennessee College
of Veterinary Medicine honored him as an "Outstanding Alumnus." Dr.
Green has served on the Board of Director for the North Carolina State
College of Veterinary Medicine's Foundation, and he and Mary Ann have
endowed a scholarship to this college. They have also founded a
pre-veterinary scholarship at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte.
Dr. Green has most enjoyed the privilege of working with people who care
for their pets, from birth to the celebration of a well-lived life, he
appreciates the trust that families have placed in him and in his
practice.
Currently he is seeking "quality of life" as a husband, father, son, and
practice owner and enjoying his "mid-life crisis," a second redhead in
his life....a quarter horse filly named "Rue". When not at work, he can
be found fishing, or running the occasional 1/2 marathon.
The Green Family consists of three humans, one dog, one cat, one horse,
and Merlin-the clinic bird.
Mary H. Fluke, DVM
Dr. Fluke has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a youngster. She thought she would practice on farm animals and horses... Imagine her surprise when she ended up specializing in dogs and cats! She earned her BA from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, and graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University before moving to Charlotte in 1987. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, but often finds herself focusing on surgery and behavioral issues.
Dr. Fluke is a charter member of the Carolina Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Club and enjoys showing her PBGVs. She does some scent training and competes in hunting trials. She is also a board member of Samaritan House, a recuperative care facility here in Charlotte, where people who are homeless may stay to get well after being discharged from the hospital. www.thesamaritanhouse.org
When not working or cleaning up after her dogs, she can be found in her garden, repainting her living room, or playing music with the Charlotte Folk Society. www.folksociety.org

Rebecca Johnson , DVM
Dr. Rebecca Johnson decided at four years old that her profession
would be veterinary medicine. A graduate of Iowa State University Vet
School, her special interest includes internal medicine and
endrocrinology. She has enjoyed over 16 years of practice including
owning a busy animal hospital in Atlanta and most recently working the
past eight years in the Lake Norman area.
Dr Johnson endures marathons and actually enjoys taking photos and
scrapbooking. She is an avid reader and can knit up a sweater in her
spare time. She mostly enjoys spending time with her children and is
often found doing the chauffeur shuffle around town.
Dr. Johnson and her husband live in the Highland Creek area with their
two children, two cats, and three dogs.
Dr. Walden has been with Mallard Creek
Animal Hospital since 1995. She grew up in South Carolina and
graduated from the University of South Carolina with the B.A.S.,
an interdisciplinary degree from the Honors College. She
received her DVM from North Carolina State University and
completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at
Auburn University.
After several years as a full-time veterinarian, Dr. Walden is
now a part-time vet and a full-time mom. She and her husband
Gary live in Charlotte with their two children and a dog. She
enjoys reading, classical music, and hand bell ringing. When not
chasing her children, she also volunteers for Librivox.org,
helping produce audio books for the public domaine.
Kelly Brunette, DVM
At the early age of seven, Kelly Brunette decided she wanted to be a veterinarian. Her passion covered the gamete of the animal kingdom which included the study of wolves, whooping cranes, lake trout, and of course, our domesticated friends.
A graduate of Northern Michigan University with her B.S. in Zoology and Masters in Biology, she continued her education at The University of Wisconsin-Madison to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
A small animal internship brought Dr. Brunette to Charlotte where she became smitten with the south.
She is excited to be at Mallard Creek Animal Hospital where the families take such good care of their pets. Her favorite aspect of medicine is ophthalmology and neurology.
Hobbies include kayaking, snowboarding, camping, and reading. Pets include a sassy dog and two cats…one of which was her first spay in vet school.
Kari Hyatt, DVM
An interesting thing happened to Kari Hyatt after earning her BA in Art History and Studio Art from Wake Forest University and becoming an award winning Architectural Student from NC State, she realized her passion was for the care and healing of animals. A varied resume including the care of Asian Elephants in Thailand, emergency care for critically injured or ill pets back in the States, and intensive surgery experiences for small animals have prepared her for the profession of taking care of the animals of families who are as passionate about their own pets. After receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from North Carolina State University, Dr. Hyatt has practiced small animal medicine across North Carolina. The lure of family and the opportunities Charlotte had to offer brought her to share her calling with Mallard Creek Animal Hospital. In her "spare" time, Dr. Hyatt loves to read, draw, travel, and has taken on home improvement challenges. She and her husband share their home with their daughter, five dogs and four cats.
Practice Manager
Donna Pintye
Practice Manger Donna Pintye has been with Mallard Creek Animal Hospital since 2001 bringing with her over twenty-five years of experience in pediatric management. She often compares our furry friends to her experiences with small humans. She says one of her favorite parts of the job is puppy kisses.
A native New Yorker (with lovely southern qualities) Mrs Pintye received an AAS in Community Service from Ulster College in New York and a BA in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
Along with Dr. Green, Mrs. Pintye is responsible for managing the business aspects and personnel of Mallard Creek Animal Hospital. She firmly believes the caring, knowledgeable, kind, and experienced employees of Mallard Creek Animal Hospital are what make her staff outstanding in the veterinary field.
She loves to travel and is a gourmet cook. The combination has taken her to study with chefs in New York, France, and Italy. When not whipping up a spectacular dish or an employee into shape, Mrs. Pintye enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
She and her Schnauzer Reilly Lane, can regularly be seen zipping around Charlotte on shopping adventures. They live in Weddington with Mrs. Pintye's husband, Frank, and two other dogs, Kutcha and Molly.
